Grounds Maintenance Gravedigger gardener  

Permanent – Full Time 37 hours 

Band D - £28,580 – £30,768 per annum

No DBS required 

(Starting salary dependent upon skills and qualifications, progression subject to satisfactory performance) 

  

Key duties and responsibilities. 

Working within the street scene department on the ground’s maintenance section, based at the Warley Depot. 

To work in designated areas throughout the borough and will assist in the ground’s maintenance and cleansing of a wide range of council’s public spaces, open spaces, cemeteries, and parks. 

  

Key skills required 

  • Current driving licence. 
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills. 
  • High level of flexibility, positive can-do attitude. 
  • Working knowledge of cemetery operations including grave digging and gravedigging  equipment . 
  • Knowledge and experience of grave digging procedures . 
  • Working knowledge of sophisticated mowing equipment and handheld equipment such as strimmer’s, hedge cutters and other horticultural equipment. 
  • Experience in grounds maintenance works, such as pruning weeding, planting. 
  • Training in the use of ride on mowers desirable. 
  • High level of people skills ,  
  • Experience of team working, and lone working where required.
