We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Officer to support both Brentwood and Rochford Councils in developing, maintaining, and delivering effective emergency planning and business continuity arrangements. 

About the role: 

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, implementing, and reviewing emergency plans, procedures, and response frameworks to ensure the Councils are well prepared to respond to a wide range of incidents and disruptions. You will work closely with the Health, Safety & Resilience Manager and internal services, partner agencies, and external stakeholders to strengthen organisational resilience and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice. 

The successful candidate will ensure that emergency planning and business continuity arrangements remain robust, up to date, and fit for purpose, providing assurance that critical services can continue to operate effectively during and after an emergency. You will also support training, exercising, and awareness programmes to embed resilience across both organisations. 

The post has responsibility for ensuring relevant information is provided to support the Councils out of hours service. You will work with the Corporate Managers to ensure that correct information is available to enable the effective delivery of the out of hours service. 

You must be able to respond in a measured way in a crisis and be able to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise way in a pressurised environment. 

Please note due to the nature of this role you will be required to work occasional evenings or weekends.
